Frequently Asked Questions

  • Obstetricians and Gynaecologists are both specialists in the care of women.

Obstetrics focus on care during pregnancy and the birth of a child, whereas gynaecology concerns women's reproductive health outside of pregnancy and delivery.

Gynaecologists care for a range of reproductive issues including endometriosis, infertility, heavy bleeding, incontinence, and more.

  • You will often be referred by a GP if they believe you require specialised care.

However, women often self-refer if they notice something unusual. If you experience any pain or discomfort, rashes, or other skin disorders in your pelvic region, then it is best to visit your Gynaecologist.

  • vNOTES (vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery) is the next advancement in minimally invasive surgery and does not require abdominal skin incisions.

In the vNOTES procedure, your doctor uses specialized instruments inserted through the vagina instead of creating visible abdominal incisions in the body. This allows your doctor to gain access to the uterus and/or fallopian tubes and ovaries without any visible scarring.
